👍 mega kudos to London Marathon finish for playing ‘walk like an Egyptian‘ the whole way down the Mall for me. What a highlight.

👑The outstanding primary school knowledge (& support) of Egyptians. They know what a King looks like too
🗣️Shouts for ‘Pharaoh’ sounded exactly like ‘Sarah’, which I hadn’t anticipated, so I couldn’t tell when I was running past people I knew 🙃

👑The King’s crown was easier for holding ice in the middle. It was tricky getting it into Cleopatra’s but worth the extra effort wrestling it in

We made it! Short summary for now* is that unsurprisingly my legs hurt a lot & Cleopatra’s hat was hot. Also, Egyptians are obviously firmly on the primary school syllabus- excellent recognition 😂

This year we're running London as King & Queen. We thought the costumes might be standard royalty, but once our applications were launched, we discovered GWR required us to be specific Monarchs (non-fictional) with evidence of the costume. Cue a lot of research and a lot of sewing 😅

..and Queen Cleopatra making an even greater historical come back to snake her way along the course. Confidence levels are not matching the high excitement levels.

We ran a tough Boston Marathon on Monday earlier this week, so the legs are still pretty sore, and hot weather forecasts are not helpful, but the goal will be to have a fun day out & raise some smiles.

So ‘fair thee well’, ‘Ankh udja seneb’ and see you in London!

Marathons are always memorable 😅 A last minute nerve issue meant downhills weren’t working, even parkrun two days before was tough, and Boston is net downhill. But some last ditch self-treatment worked some magic. I ran the whole way, (tiny steps on the downs seemed to help), soaked up the sights & atmosphere, got sunburnt, and gratefully accepted ice & ice lollies from spectators. Legs are battered, but spirits high! 3:23:42

Max ran 3:04:08 and found it bit more of a struggle than his time sounds, but happy to have made it!
